Your letter with commission reached me. As far as the

questions are concerned I have already answered them in mỹ

communication of the 2nd instant.

As for the commission, if Pulmyon comes to Hongkong he can take anything except provisions with him.

An audience with the Governor would be no use. Only

think how Br. Schultze is treated, He has had to apply twice

again. As an example, Germans who come to Hongkong unexpectedly and unwittingly are simply sent over to Stonecutters Island

and have to live in tents and wash soldiers' clothes. There are

already about 80 germans there.

I hardly think we shall be banished, so it would be a

weakness to put the two Swiss in my place. Also the Government

would not allow it, for the Swiss are also under the "control"

of the German Consulate.

Trains and steamers to Canton go regularly. Japanese,

Dutch, American, English and French steamers come and go as of

old. A German can leave on aghip with the permission of the

Government. There would be a difficulty about your coming to

Hongkong because Germans coming here are made prisoners.

If you went to Swatow and then to Shanghai you would

get to America as quickly as possible but it would be risky as

there are war conditions in the North, Quite impossible to go

to India.

K.Schooh has been home sine June 15.
